School Schmool

Anyone who knows me knows that I do not love school. As I am completing my last year of college, I find myself trying to "Carsonify" my assignments and make them more fun. For my graphic design class we had to re-design a book cover of our choice. Naturally I wasn't going to choose some boring novel. I had to go with Jane Fonda's Workout Book. There's the picture of the finished product. I am forever indebted to Jane for inspiring me to commit to fitness in the 8th grade, when I found my mom's old Jane Fonda Workout VHS. So I freshened up the old book cover with bright colors and fun style. The other picture is of my inflatable sculpture of a lava lamp. I made it in a group and it was 13 feet tall! We filled it with balloons and fabric instead of lava. The sun was shining through it when we completed it, and it looked like a real lamp!

Greg's birthday present to Carson...

Here is one of the gifts Greg gave me for my birthday yesterday. It is a post-it note that says "$100 Gift Card @ the Mall." I thought it was a joke, but he says if I present it at any store with our credit card it will work! Haha! I love him.

Best birthday ever!

I know it's late but I am too pumped up from my awesome birthday to sleep! We just got home. Here's how it went down - first Greg went shopping for my prezzies during the day and brought me home the last Pretty Little Liars book in the series "Wanted," and some super glam jewelry! I can't wait to read "Wanted" and find out who the real killer is! I am so hooked on those books I don't know what I will read when there are no more of them left. My parents, aunts, and cousins, had dinner with us at my favorite restaurant, L'thai, where I had my favorite meal: Thai tea, and Pad Thai. We came back to our house and had some pink, gluten-free birthday cake that my mom made for me (so yummy!) and opened presents. Then Greg and I took my cousin Jessica out dancing with Greg's brother Andrew and Daniel. We wanted to go to a "real" club and dance dance dance, so we went to Tongue and Groove. We thought it would be totally cheesy, and it kind of was, but the DJ was awesome and we had a blast!!

Hot off the press!

Our new remix of "Totally Beachin'" is now on iTunes! It's called the "Wave Rider Mix" and it's clubbier and dancier than ever! It has new vocals and is totally jammin'! There is a club in Florida we wanted to go to, but it was closed the night we were there. It was called "The Wave" and looked like it should have been in "A Night at the Roxbury" so we remixed "Totally Beachin'" to sound like it should be played there. Maybe someday it will...we can dream

Good Morning Studio

We don't have any plans for our 3-day weekend, so that means studio time! We are working on songs for our next album which will release in spring 2011. We record vocals in our living room since the sound is the best there. This morning woke up, had our egg whites and maple sausage, Greg grabbed his coffee, and set up the living room studio. We record in the morning so he has stuff to mix for the rest of the day. He is in the zone! Here are some pics of us during our morning studio session. I am being brave and posting this picture of me without makeup!

La Chansons Headquarters

Over the weekend we rearranged our music and art room (also known as La Chansons Headquarters) in attempt to make it more efficient. We live in a tiny doll house, so we're always trying to "win the war on clutter." Plus, we watch a lot of "Clean House"! I made designated work spaces for each of us, and we have been a lot more productive! Greg especially loves his new studio space and is getting pumped for the next album. He's working on it right now! My space is compact and clean now too with a spot for sewing, painting, and computer work (PS: thanks for the Lily Pulitzer PJ's, mom!).

Date Night

We had another busy week - I had my first week of my last year of school, and Greg was extra busy at work, as usual. We were excited when the weekend arrived because that meant we could work on our "Totally Beachin'" remix, use our new Apogee Duet and AKG mic, I could tackle a giant pile of laundry, and most importantly - we could have date night! We like to have at least one date night a week to not worry about work, school, music, or anything else. This week we wanted to feel like we were on vacation, so we tried a new restaurant: Simply Delicious Caribbean Cuisine. It did not disappoint! Everyone there was super friendly, and the food tasted home cooked. Of course we loved the beachy atmosphere! The cole slaw and plantains were our faves.
